Okay, real talk. When I first started my blog about camping gear, I was totally clueless about SEO. Seriously, I spent weeks making content I thought was amazing, hit publish, and then… crickets. Nobody visited. Nobody at all.
Then my friend Jake, who runs a marketing agency, took pity on me over a beer. “Dude,” he said, “you need backlinks. Dofollow backlinks.” I nodded like a genius, then immediately ran home and Googled it.
Fast forward to today, and after years of messing up (and occasionally getting it right!), I’ve built a personal list of over 300 dofollow backlink sites that actually work. I’m talking about real sites that helped me climb the rankings and bring in actual traffic.
I’m sharing this list because I remember how confusing and frustrating it was starting out. So, grab your coffee. Let’s dive into the simple strategies that turned my ghost town blog into a traffic machine.

What the Heck are Dofollow Backlinks Anyway?
Let me explain this in the easiest way possible. A dofollow backlink is basically another website giving you a massive thumbs-up to Google.
Think of it like getting a referral from a friend you trust. If your buddy Dave recommends a new taco joint, you’ll probably check it out. But if everyone in town—the mayor, the chef, and the food critic—is talking about that taco joint, you know it’s the real deal.
That’s how Google sees backlinks. The more quality, trusted sites pointing to your page, the more Google thinks, “Hmm, this site must be worth showing in search results.” It’s a huge vote of confidence.
My Simple Pro Tips (Things I Wish I Knew Sooner)
I wasted so much time doing things the wrong way. Here are the four biggest lessons that changed the game for me:
1. Don’t Be a Link-Begging Weirdo
I used to send the same boring, generic email to fifty bloggers asking for links. Guess how many replied? Zero. It was super awkward.
The Fix: Now, I actually read their content first. I compliment something specific they wrote. When I finally reach out, I sound like a human, not a spam bot. My success rate went from 0% to about 15% overnight. People link to people they like and respect.
2. The “Skyscraper” Technique Actually Works
I was super skeptical about this one, but it’s gold.
I found a popular article about camping stoves that had a lot of links. I then created a MUCH better, more detailed version. I included my own side-by-side comparison photos and new safety tips.
Then, I emailed the sites linking to the old, weaker article and said, “Hey, I saw you linked to this post. I just published an updated guide that’s way more detailed. Maybe it’s a good resource for your readers?” I got nine backlinks from that one piece of content!
3. Create Something Truly Link-Worthy
You can’t get links for boring content. Last year, I made an interactive map showing the best hidden camping spots in each state, complete with monthly weather and crowd predictions.
It took forever to create, but guess what? It earned me 47 backlinks without me even having to ask. Build something useful, and people will link naturally.
4. Niche Forums Are Hidden Gold
I spent six months just being a helpful, useful member of a backpacking forum. I answered questions and gave advice—no links to my site, ever.
When I finally shared my detailed guide on ultra-light tents, it wasn’t seen as spam. Why? Because I had already established myself as a trustworthy contributor. That single link sent me more super-engaged traffic than ten generic link submissions combined.
5. Don’t Sleep on HARO
Help A Reporter Out (HARO) has been my secret weapon. I respond to emails from reporters looking for expert quotes on outdoor gear and camping.
I’ve landed mentions (with backlinks) in huge publications like Outside Magazine and major brand blogs. These high-authority links moved my rankings way more than dozens of lower-quality links ever could.
Now, let’s get to the actual list of sites. I’ve personally tested every single one, and they’re organized by the biggest impact they had on my ranking goals.

Blog Commenting Sites That Still Work in 2025
Most blog comments are nofollow these days, but these sites still offer dofollow links (just don’t be spammy or they’ll change that real quick):
| Website | DA | PA | DR | UR | SS |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| NeilPatel.com | 91 | 72 | 93 | 88 | 82 |
| Backlinko.com | 87 | 69 | 92 | 85 | 79 |
| Problogger.com | 85 | 67 | 89 | 82 | 78 |

Guest Posting Sites That Don’t Want Your Kidney in Exchange
Finding good guest posting opportunities is tough. These sites actually responded to my pitches and published my content with dofollow links in the author bio:
| Website | DA | PA | DR | UR | SS |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| BlogWPThemes.com | 93 | 75 | 93 | 89 | 84 |
| 365BusinessTips.com | 91 | 73 | 91 | 86 | 81 |
| BizGlide.in | 91 | 72 | 91 | 85 | 80 |
| BusinessNewsTips.com | 91 | 71 | 90 | 84 | 79 |
| MirrorReview.com | 90 | 70 | 89 | 83 | 78 |
| Warrington-Worldwide.co.uk | 90 | 69 | 88 | 82 | 77 |

| IndianTelevision.com | 88 | 65 | 84 | 78 | 73 |
Profile Creation Sites (The Low-Hanging Fruit)
These are easy wins, but don’t expect miracles. I use these to diversify my link profile and for a quick boost when launching a new page:
| Website | DA | PA | DR | UR | SS |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Vimeo.com | 94 | 76 | 93 | 89 | 84 |
| Pinterest.com | 93 | 75 | 92 | 88 | 83 |
| About.me | 92 | 74 | 91 | 87 | 82 |
| MySpace.com | 91 | 73 | 90 | 86 | 81 |
| TypePad.com | 90 | 72 | 89 | 85 | 80 |
| CreateSpace.com | 89 | 71 | 88 | 84 | 79 |
| Gravatar.com | 88 | 70 | 87 | 83 | 78 |
| Pearltrees.com | 87 | 69 | 86 | 82 | 77 |
| 8tracks.com | 86 | 68 | 85 | 81 | 76 |
| Yudu.com | 85 | 67 | 84 | 80 | 75 |
Weird but true: I created a Pearltrees collection of “Essential Camping Resources” with links to both my site and other authority sites in my niche. That single profile link has sent me consistent traffic for over a year now.
Article Sites Where Real Humans Might Actually See Your Content
I’ve tried dozens of article submission sites. Most are garbage. These ones have actually driven referral traffic in addition to providing backlinks:

The “Is This Really Worth It?” Reality Check
Let’s be real for a second. Building backlinks is a grind. There have been nights I’ve stayed up until 2 AM sending outreach emails, only to wake up to zero responses. Some weeks I feel like I’m shouting into the void.
But then I look at my analytics. My organic traffic has grown from 50 visitors a day to over 2,000. My affiliate revenue has gone from barely covering my hosting costs to paying my mortgage. And it all started with that first dofollow backlink.
The secret isn’t finding some magical list of 300+ backlink sites (though I hope this list helps). It’s about persistence, providing genuine value, and building real relationships with other site owners. Some of my best backlinks have come from people I met at industry conferences or through Twitter conversations that had nothing to do with link building.
My Final Advice After 6 Years of Link Building
If I could go back in time and give myself one piece of advice, it would be this: focus on creating one exceptional piece of content every month rather than ten mediocre ones. Then put all your energy into promoting that one piece.
When I stopped chasing quantity and focused on quality, everything changed. My outreach emails got responses. People started linking to my site without me asking. My content started ranking for competitive keywords.
The backlinks on this list are tools, but your content is the foundation. Build something worth linking to, and half your link building work is already done.
Now get out there and start building some links. And if this guide helped you, a link back to my site wouldn’t hurt either. 😉
Good luck, and feel free to email me with your success stories. I read every message.
