Here is the thing about a list like this: 100 sites is about 90 more than you need.
You are not going to pitch all of them, and you should not try. The goal is not "get a link from every UK site with a high Domain Rating". The goal is a handful of relevant placements on sites your actual customers read.
This list is the raw material. Below the table you will find how to filter it to a shortlist, write a pitch that gets a reply, and avoid the mistakes that get you ignored or blocked.
What the metrics mean
Every site in the table has five numbers next to it. Here is how to read them, and how much each one actually matters.
| Metric | What it is | How much it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Domain Rating (DR) | Ahrefs' 0 to 100 score for a whole site's backlink profile | A useful filter, not a verdict |
| Domain Authority (DA) | Moz's equivalent 0 to 100 score | Same idea as DR; if the two disagree, trust neither blindly |
| Page Authority (PA) | Moz's score for one specific page | Matters once you know which page your post will live on |
| URL Rating (UR) | Ahrefs' score for one specific URL | Same purpose as PA |
| Monthly Traffic | Estimated organic visits to the site per month | The most honest signal that a link will be seen |
Here is the deal: a DR 90 site in a niche unrelated to yours does almost nothing for you. A DR 65 site your buyers genuinely read is worth chasing. Sort by relevance first. Use the metrics to break ties.
How to pick your shortlist
Work down the table in this order:
- Relevance. Cross out every site with nothing to do with your industry or audience. For most businesses that removes 70 to 80 of the 100.
- Real traffic. Of what is left, keep the sites with meaningful monthly traffic. A link on a page nobody visits is a vanity link.
- Contribution policy. Check each remaining site for a "write for us", "contribute" or "editorial guidelines" page. Several national titles near the top only take PR pitches, not open guest posts.
- Reachability. Can you find a named editor or a clear submission route? A faceless contact form usually means a low reply rate.
You should end with 8 to 15 genuine targets. That is your list.
The 100 UK sites
Domain Rating, Domain Authority, Page Authority and URL Rating. Every domain here was checked live in September 2026; dead and parked sites were removed. Metrics are third-party estimates and shift over time, so re-check the two or three you plan to pitch.

The pitch that gets a reply
Most guest-post pitches fail for the same reason. They lead with the ask instead of the idea.
Do this instead:
- Read three of their recent articles. Note the angle, the length and the tone.
- Find the gap. What have they not covered, or covered badly, that you can genuinely add to?
- Pitch the specific piece, not "I would like to write for you". Give the working headline, a two-line summary, and why their readers would care.
- Prove you can write. Link to one article you are proud of. One, not five.
- Keep it short. Four or five sentences. Editors skim.
- Follow up once, about a week later. Then move on.
The test: would this pitch still make sense if you removed the link you want entirely? If yes, send it. If the whole email only exists to get a backlink, the editor can tell.
What not to do
- Send the same pitch to all 100 sites. Editors talk, and tools flag it.
- Pay for a "guest post" that is really a link placement, without a
sponsoredtag. That is a paid link and it is a risk. - Stuff the post with exact-match anchor text pointing at your money pages.
- Submit thin or AI-spun filler. A bad guest post damages your brand on someone else's site.
- Chase Domain Rating at the expense of relevance. It is the number one mistake people make with lists like this.
What to realistically expect
| Question | Realistic answer |
|---|---|
| Reply rate on a good, personalised pitch | 15 to 30 percent |
| Time from pitch to published | 2 to 8 weeks |
| Links from the national news sites at the top | Usually only through digital PR or a genuine expert-comment request |
| Where most achievable placements are | The mid-list trade, business and industry sites |
Bottom line: five to ten relevant, editorial placements over a few months will do more for your rankings than fifty low-quality ones, and carry none of the risk. Use this list to find those five to ten.
