Static-site platforms like Cloudflare Pages, GitHub Pages, Netlify and Vercel host a static or JavaScript site for free, on fast global networks, with HTTPS and a custom domain. For a portfolio, documentation, a landing page, a small business brochure or a personal site, this is not a compromise. It is often better than cheap shared hosting.
