What decides page speed for local visitors
A Mumbai datacenter, or the nearest option (Singapore is a reasonable second).
Rupee billing if you want GST invoices and to avoid card foreign-transaction fees.
India-hours phone or chat support.
The renewal price, since Indian hosts also discount the first term heavily.

Hosting in India: currency, datacenters and local rules
Billing currency: INR (₹).
Datacenters: Hostinger and Bluehost run Mumbai datacenters. MilesWeb and BigRock are India-based with Mumbai infrastructure. SiteGround's nearest is Singapore.
Latency: A Mumbai server reaches Delhi, Bangalore and Chennai in roughly 20 to 40 ms. A US server adds 200 to 300 ms.
Local independents worth knowing: MilesWeb, BigRock.
- For sites handling Indian user data at scale, check whether the Digital Personal Data Protection Act affects where you must store it.
- Rupee billing avoids the 3.5% foreign-transaction fee many Indian cards charge on USD payments.
Local hosting mistakes to avoid
The errors we see people make, and how to avoid each one.
Picking a US server because it was a dollar cheaper
The dollar you save is paid back many times over in slower pages for every Indian visitor and a worse Core Web Vitals score. If your audience is in India, a Mumbai server is the single biggest speed lever you have.
Paying USD and eating the card fee
Many Indian debit and credit cards charge a 3 to 3.5% foreign-transaction fee on USD billing, and you cannot claim GST on a foreign invoice. A host that bills in rupees with a GST invoice (Hostinger India, MilesWeb) avoids both.
Assuming SiteGround has an India datacenter
It does not. Its nearest is Singapore, which is still fast for Indian visitors (about 60 to 90 ms) thanks to strong caching, but it is not the same as Mumbai. If you specifically want an in-country server, Hostinger, Bluehost or an India-based host are the options.
How we ranked these hosts
We keep a data sheet of every provider in the comparison: current intro and renewal pricing, datacenter locations, storage, backups and money-back terms, each with the sources we checked it against. The ranking on this page is our judgement about which of those providers fits best web hosting in India best, weighted by the criteria above. A provider only appears once its current data is verified; where we could not confirm a number, that host is left off rather than guessed.

- TTFB and Hosting for SEO: How the Server Affects Core Web VitalsTime to First Byte is how long the server takes to start replying. It is the one piece of page speed that is mostly about your host, and a slow one holds back every Core Web Vital that follows.
- What a CDN Is, and When You Need OneA CDN is a network of servers around the world that keep copies of your site. Visitors get served from the nearest one, so pages load quickly everywhere and your host handles far fewer requests.
- Caching Explained: Page Cache, Object Cache and OPcacheCaching is just keeping the answer so you do not have to work it out again. A fast site uses four kinds at once, and knowing which is which tells you what to ask a host for.
