Not doing the total-cost sum
IONOS at $1/mo for year one then ~$14/mo works out to about $355 over three years. Namecheap at ~$1.98 then ~$3.88 is about $116. The $1 plan is only cheaper if you leave before it renews.
Committing to 36 or 48 months for the headline price
The sub-$1 rate almost always needs the longest prepay. You pay a large amount upfront and you are locked in through the renewal. A shorter term costs a little more per month and keeps you free to move.
Assuming the plan can grow with you
Sub-$1 plans are entry tier: one site, limited storage, weekly backups on some. A project that takes off will need an upgrade within the year, and the upgrade is priced at the standard rate, not the promo.
