Beauty publishing splits into four tiers, and where you can land a byline depends on the credential or the portfolio behind it.
The magazine verticals are fact-checked and staff-written. The retailer blogs take contributions with the right expertise. The review sites want real testing. The skincare and makeup blogs are open. The list of 100 is below, grouped by tier.
Pick your tier first
| Tier | Examples | How you get in |
|---|---|---|
| Magazine verticals | Allure, Vogue Beauty, Elle Beauty, Cosmopolitan, Byrdie, The Cut | Not open guest posts. A byline from a dermatologist, esthetician or known makeup artist |
| Retailer editorial | Sephora, Ulta, Dermstore, Beauty Bay, SkinStore, Paula's Choice | Contributor programmes and expert pieces; ingredient education, routines, technique |
| Review & ingredient sites | Temptalia, Beautypedia, Lab Muffin, The Beauty Brains, MakeupAlley | Genuine testing, ingredient analysis, side-by-sides with photos |
| Skincare & makeup blogs | Caroline Hirons, Musings of a Muse, Really Ree, Gothamista, From Head To Toe | Open to contributions; routines, first-hand reviews, personal stories |
What the metrics mean
| Metric | What it is | How much it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Domain Rating (DR) | Ahrefs' 0 to 100 score for a whole site's backlink profile | A useful filter, not a verdict |
| Domain Authority (DA) | Moz's equivalent 0 to 100 score | Same idea as DR |
| Page Authority (PA) | Moz's score for one specific page | Matters once you know which page your post will live on |
| URL Rating (UR) | Ahrefs' score for one specific URL | Same purpose as PA |
| Monthly Traffic | Estimated organic visits per month | The most honest signal that a link will be seen |
Here is the deal: beauty is a soft-YMYL topic. Google leans on author expertise for skincare and health claims, so a placement with a named expert byline on a fact-checked site is worth far more than a link from a thin blog that recycles press releases.
The 100 beauty sites
Domain Rating, Domain Authority, Page Authority, URL Rating and estimated monthly traffic. Every domain was checked live in September 2026; shut-down, parked and merged sites were swapped for live equivalents. Metrics are third-party estimates and shift over time.

The pitch that works for beauty editors
- Lead with the credential or the test. "As a cosmetic chemist" or "I wore this SPF daily for 8 weeks in three climates" earns the read.
- Pitch the angle the staff missed. Not "how to layer skincare." Something like "why the 10-step routine breaks down for rosacea-prone skin."
- Bring your own imagery. Swatches, before-and-after, technique steps. Beauty editors will not run stock for a hands-on piece.
- Match the tier's standard. Ingredient and skincare pieces need an expert author or reviewer. Technique pieces need a portfolio.
- Send one clip in a similar style and your bio.
- Disclose any brand relationship up front, especially for products you formulate or sell.
The test: would an editor run this if you had no product to sell? If yes, pitch it. If it is a walkthrough of your line, it goes in the bin.
What not to do
- Pitch a generic "best moisturisers 2026" listicle. Every site has a rolling one, and claims need an expert.
- Send skincare science with no dermatologist or chemist attached.
- Recycle a press release as a "review."
- Stuff affiliate links, or point exact-match anchors ("best vitamin C serum") at your store.
- Use AI-generated copy with no real testing. In beauty it reads as generic immediately.
Bottom line: a few placements on fact-checked sites with a named expert byline will do more for rankings and trust than a long list of thin beauty-blog links. Use this list to find your few.
