Tech and gadget publishing splits cleanly into three tiers, and where you can land depends entirely on which tier you are aiming at.

The big news sites do not take guest posts, full stop. The mid-tier phone and reviews sites do. The regional and enthusiast sites are wide open. The list of 100 is below, sorted roughly by that tier.

Pick your tier first

TierExamplesHow you get in
Major tech newsTechCrunch, The Verge, Wired, Ars Technica, Engadget, CNETNot guest posts. Exclusive data, an embargoed launch, or expert commentary on a live story
Mid-tier phone & reviewsAndroid Authority, Android Police, PhoneArena, SlashGear, Pocketnow, GadgetMatchFreelance pitches and contributor programmes; hands-on reviews, comparisons, how-tos
Regional & enthusiast91mobiles, Gizmochina, MySmartPrice, MobileSyrup, iGyaan, Tech Gadgets CanadaOpen to contributions; local market angles, launches, buying guides
Deals, accessories & nicheThe Gadget Flow, Geeky Gadgets, Coolsmartphone, DeviceDailyProduct-led how-tos, accessory roundups, first-look pieces

What the metrics mean

MetricWhat it isHow much it matters
Domain Rating (DR)Ahrefs' 0 to 100 score for a whole site's backlink profileA useful filter, not a verdict
Domain Authority (DA)Moz's equivalent 0 to 100 scoreSame idea as DR
Page Authority (PA)Moz's score for one specific pageMatters once you know which page your post will live on
URL Rating (UR)Ahrefs' score for one specific URLSame purpose as PA
Monthly TrafficEstimated organic visits per monthThe most honest signal that a link will be seen
Spam ScoreMoz's 0 to 4 estimate of how many spam signals a site showsA low number is reassurance, not a green light; 3 to 4 means look closer before you pitch

Here is the deal: tech has a lot of high-DR sites, so DR is a weak filter here. What separates a good placement from a wasted one is whether the site's readers buy the kind of device or tool you sell.

The pitch that works for tech editors

  1. Lead with the hands-on or the data. "I've used this phone as my daily driver for a month" or "we benchmarked 12 chargers" earns the read.
  2. Pitch the angle the staff missed. Not "iPhone 17 review". Something like "the iPhone 17 feature nobody is talking about, and why it matters for battery life".
  3. Bring original assets. Your own photos, teardown shots, benchmark charts. Tech editors will not run stock imagery.
  4. Match the tier's format. News sites want a tight, sourced story; reviews sites want a structured hands-on; regional sites want a local buying angle.
  5. One clip in a similar style.
  6. Disclose any brand or PR relationship up front.

The test: would an editor run this if you had no product to promote? If yes, pitch it. If it is a walkthrough of your device's features, it goes in the bin.

What not to do

  • Pitch a generic "top 10 smartphones" listicle. Every site has a rolling one already.
  • Send the same pitch to a major news site and a regional gadget blog.
  • Submit a review written from the spec sheet without touching the device.
  • Stuff affiliate links, or point exact-match anchors ("best budget phone") at your store.
  • Use AI-generated filler with no hands-on detail. In tech it is obvious within a paragraph.

Bottom line: a few placements on sites whose readers buy your category of device will do more for your rankings and sales than a long list of high-DR general-tech links. Use this list to find your few.

Frequently asked questions

Do the big tech sites accept guest posts?

TechCrunch, The Verge, Wired and the rest commission from staff and vetted freelancers; they do not take open guest submissions. They will take expert commentary, exclusive data, or a founder story on a genuine news hook. The mid-tier phone and gadget sites are far more open to contributions.

What do I need to pitch a smartphone or gadget site?

For reviews and how-tos, hands-on experience and your own photos or benchmarks. For news and analysis, an angle the staff writers missed, or data. Brands can get coverage with an embargoed launch, a spec exclusive, or original research.

Can I link to my product or store?

Usually one disclosed link in the author bio, and only if the piece is genuinely useful. Editors strip promotional links from the body and reject posts that read like a spec sheet or an ad.

Which matters more, Domain Rating or relevance?

Relevance to your exact device category first, then traffic, then DR. A DR 78 Android-focused site read by buyers beats a DR 90 general tech site that buries your post in an archive.

The metrics do not match my tools. Why?

Domain Rating, Domain Authority and traffic estimates are recalculated constantly and differ between tools. Use them to sort the list, then re-check the two or three sites you plan to pitch.

Want us to run the outreach?

We build the shortlist by tier and category, write the pitches and the pieces, and place them on relevant tech sites with real editorial standards. No link farms, no risk.
