"High traffic" is a filter, not a strategy. The biggest sites are also the hardest to get into and the strictest on relevance, so read this list as a shortlist of platforms to research, not a target of 100.
The open platforms let you publish directly. The contributor networks have narrowed. The section-based editorial sites commission and require credentials. The crowdfunding and community routes are story-led. The list of 100 is below, grouped by route.
Pick your tier first
| Tier | Examples | How you get in |
|---|---|---|
| Open platforms | Medium, Reddit, Quora, LinkedIn, HackerNoon, Behance, DeviantArt | Publish directly; earn distribution through the platform's own ranking, not an editor |
| Contributor networks | Entrepreneur, Forbes, Inc, HuffPost, Business2Community, AllBusiness | A vetted contributor programme, where it still exists; expert commentary is the realistic route |
| Section-based editorial | The Balance, Healthline, Investopedia, The Spruce, Verywell, NerdWallet | Not open guest posts. Credentialed contributors for a specific section |
| Crowdfunding & community | Indiegogo, Kickstarter blogs, GoFundMe stories, community subreddits | Story-led content tied to a campaign or a genuine community contribution |
What the metrics mean
| Metric | What it is | How much it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Domain Rating (DR) | Ahrefs' 0 to 100 score for a whole site's backlink profile | A useful filter, not a verdict |
| Domain Authority (DA) | Moz's equivalent 0 to 100 score | Same idea as DR |
| Page Authority (PA) | Moz's score for one specific page | Matters once you know which page your post will live on |
| URL Rating (UR) | Ahrefs' score for one specific URL | Same purpose as PA |
| Monthly Traffic | Estimated organic visits per month | The most honest signal that a link will be seen |
Here is the deal: a link on a DR 90 site in the wrong section, with no topical relevance to your business, does very little. A link on a DR 75 site whose readers are your buyers does a lot. Traffic is one input; relevance is the one that matters most.
The 100 sites
Domain Rating, Domain Authority, Page Authority, URL Rating and estimated monthly traffic. Every domain was checked live in September 2026. Traffic figures are whole-domain estimates; the section you would publish in is usually a fraction of that. Metrics are third-party estimates and shift over time.

The pitch that works
- Check the route first. Open platform, contributor network or commissioned editorial. Each needs a completely different approach.
- Lead with relevance. Why this site's readers specifically need this piece.
- Bring the credential or the data. The bigger the site, the higher the bar for who gets a byline.
- Pitch the exact section. Naming it is the difference between a reply and silence.
- Match the platform's format. A Medium essay, a Reddit answer, a Forbes contributor piece and a Healthline section article are not interchangeable.
- Disclose any commercial interest in what you are writing about.
The test: would an editor run this if you had nothing to sell? If yes, pitch it. If it exists only to place a link, it goes in the bin.
What not to do
- Treat a DR 90 link as valuable regardless of relevance or section.
- Send the same pitch to Forbes, Reddit and Healthline.
- Assume a contributor programme still exists without checking.
- Put exact-match anchors on links back to your product.
- Publish thin content on Medium purely for a nofollow link.
Bottom line: use the traffic column to find the platforms with reach, then ignore it and choose the two or three whose audience overlaps with your customers. That short list beats chasing all 100.
