Nutrition publishing splits into four tiers, and where you can land a byline depends entirely on the credential behind it.

The medically-reviewed brands do not take open guest posts. The professional bodies take practitioner and research content. The trade press takes ingredient and market analysis. The evidence-based blogs are open. The list of 100 is below, grouped by tier.

Pick your tier first

TierExamplesHow you get in
Medically-reviewed health brandsHealthline Nutrition, Verywell Fit, Medical News Today, Eating Well, Precision NutritionNot open guest posts. A byline from a registered dietitian, physician or nutrition researcher
Dietetics & professional bodiesEatRight (Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics), Nutrition.org (ASN), Today's Dietitian, Dietitian ConnectionPractitioner analysis, research summaries, practice content for RDs
Food-industry trade pressNutraIngredients, Nutritional Outlook, Nutrition Insight, Food and NutritionIngredient science, market data, regulatory analysis
Evidence-based blogsNutrition Facts, Diet vs Disease, Chris Kresser, Found My Fitness, Nutrition StrippedReferenced deep dives, myth-busting, protocols with citations

What the metrics mean

MetricWhat it isHow much it matters
Domain Rating (DR)Ahrefs' 0 to 100 score for a whole site's backlink profileA useful filter, not a verdict
Domain Authority (DA)Moz's equivalent 0 to 100 scoreSame idea as DR
Page Authority (PA)Moz's score for one specific pageMatters once you know which page your post will live on
URL Rating (UR)Ahrefs' score for one specific URLSame purpose as PA
Monthly TrafficEstimated organic visits per monthThe most honest signal that a link will be seen

Here is the deal: nutrition is core YMYL and one of the most heavily reviewed topics in search. Google leans on registered dietitians and physicians for it, and a link earned with a real RD or PhD byline is in a different class from an anonymous blog post.

The pitch that works

  1. Lead with the credential and the evidence. "As a registered dietitian, here is what the fibre-and-gut-health research supports" earns the read.
  2. Cite primary sources. Link the studies. Nutrition editors check.
  3. Pitch the section. "For your evidence-based nutrition coverage" shows you read the site.
  4. Bring the assets. A protocol, a comparison table, a reference list.
  5. Match the format. Health brands want a reviewed explainer. Professional bodies want a research summary. Blogs want a referenced deep dive.
  6. Disclose any product, supplement or practice you have a stake in.

The test: would an editor run this if you had nothing to sell? If yes, pitch it. If it exists only to place a link, it goes in the bin.

What not to do

  • Pitch a "superfoods you must eat" listicle with no author credential.
  • Make health claims you cannot back with a peer-reviewed study.
  • Cite other blogs instead of primary research.
  • Put exact-match anchors ("best protein powder") on links back to your store.
  • Use AI-generated nutrition content. In a YMYL niche it is both obvious and risky.

Bottom line: a few placements on medically-reviewed sites and professional bodies with a real dietitian or researcher byline will do more for rankings and trust than a long list of thin nutrition-blog links.

Frequently asked questions

Do sites like Healthline or EatingWell accept nutrition guest posts?

No. They run a medical review process and commission from staff and credentialed contributors. They will take a byline from a registered dietitian, physician or nutrition researcher. The professional bodies and evidence-based blogs are more open.

What do I need to pitch a nutrition site?

A relevant qualification (RD, RDN, PhD in nutrition science, MD) or a named expert reviewer for anything with a health claim. Editors also expect citations to primary research, not to other blogs.

Can I link to my practice, product or supplement?

One disclosed link in the author bio at most, and only on the sites that take contributed articles. Nutrition is YMYL, so promotional links get the piece pulled and unsupported claims get it rejected.

Which matters more, Domain Rating or author expertise?

Author expertise. Google's systems lean heavily on named, credentialed authors for this topic.

The metrics do not match my SEO tool. Why?

Domain Rating and traffic estimates are recalculated constantly and differ between tools. Many small nutrition blogs from older lists are now abandoned.

Want us to run the outreach?

We build the shortlist by tier, pair every claim with a credentialed reviewer, write the pitches and place them on real nutrition publications. No link farms, no risk.
