Photography publishing splits into four tiers, and where you can land a byline depends on whether you have a portfolio to back it.
The photo news and gear outlets do not take open guest posts. The education sites take tutorials from working photographers. The rumor and review blogs want hands-on testing. The fine-art platforms feature bodies of work. The list of 100 is below, grouped by tier.
Pick your tier first
| Tier | Examples | How you get in |
|---|---|---|
| Photo news & gear | PetaPixel, DPReview, Fstoppers, Digital Camera World, B&H Explora | Not open guest posts. Exclusive news, original test data, or a strong tutorial with a portfolio |
| Education & tutorials | Digital Photography School, Photography Life, SLR Lounge, CreativeLive, Cambridge in Colour | Tutorials from working photographers, with your own example images and settings |
| Rumor & review blogs | Nikon Rumors, Canon Rumors, Fuji Rumors, Sony Alpha Rumors, PhotographyBlog | Hands-on testing, sample files, gear analysis |
| Fine-art & portfolio | Magnum, Aperture, LensCulture, Feature Shoot, This Is Colossal | A cohesive body of work and a project statement |
What the metrics mean
| Metric | What it is | How much it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Domain Rating (DR) | Ahrefs' 0 to 100 score for a whole site's backlink profile | A useful filter, not a verdict |
| Domain Authority (DA) | Moz's equivalent 0 to 100 score | Same idea as DR |
| Page Authority (PA) | Moz's score for one specific page | Matters once you know which page your post will live on |
| URL Rating (UR) | Ahrefs' score for one specific URL | Same purpose as PA |
| Monthly Traffic | Estimated organic visits per month | The most honest signal that a link will be seen |
Here is the deal: photography content is judged on the images. A tutorial on a mid-DR site with your own strong example photos is worth more than a link from a higher-DR site where your work is not shown.
The 100 photography sites
Domain Rating, Domain Authority, Page Authority, URL Rating and estimated monthly traffic. Every domain was checked live in September 2026; closed sites were replaced with live equivalents. Metrics are third-party estimates and shift over time.

The pitch that works for photography editors
- Lead with the image or the finding. "How I shot this in one exposure" or "we tested 6 50mm lenses on the same scene" earns the read.
- Show the portfolio. A link to your work in the pitch. Editors will not take a tutorial from someone whose photos they cannot see.
- Pitch the section. "For your landscape tutorials" or "for the gear reviews" shows you read the site.
- Bring your own assets. Full-res samples, RAW files, a settings table, before-and-after edits.
- Match the format. News wants a tight story. Education sites want a structured how-to. Fine-art platforms want a project.
- Disclose any brand or sponsorship behind the gear you are writing about.
The test: would an editor run this if you sold no prints or presets? If yes, pitch it. If it is a promo for your Lightroom pack, it goes in the bin.
What not to do
- Pitch a "best camera for beginners" listicle with no testing.
- Illustrate a tutorial with stock images instead of your own.
- Send the same pitch to a photo-news site and a fine-art platform.
- Stuff affiliate links, or point exact-match anchors ("best mirrorless camera") at your store.
- Use AI-generated "photography tips" with no images and no photographer behind them.
Bottom line: a few placements on sites whose readers shoot your genre, with your own images shown, will do more for rankings and bookings than a long list of thin photo-blog links. Use this list to find your few.
