Weight-loss publishing splits into four tiers, and where you can land a byline depends almost entirely on the credential behind it.

The medically-reviewed brands do not take open guest posts. The programme media take evidence-based nutrition. The recipe sites take genuine meal content. The coaching blogs are open. The list of 100 is below, grouped by tier.

Pick your tier first

TierExamplesHow you get in

What the metrics mean

MetricWhat it isHow much it matters
Domain Rating (DR)Ahrefs' 0 to 100 score for a whole site's backlink profileA useful filter, not a verdict
Domain Authority (DA)Moz's equivalent 0 to 100 scoreSame idea as DR
Page Authority (PA)Moz's score for one specific pageMatters once you know which page your post will live on
URL Rating (UR)Ahrefs' score for one specific URLSame purpose as PA
Monthly TrafficEstimated organic visits per monthThe most honest signal that a link will be seen

Here is the deal: weight loss is core YMYL and one of the most tightly policed topics in search. Google weighs named, credentialed authors and medical review heavily, and disordered-eating safeguards matter. A link earned with a real RD or MD byline is in a different class.

The 100 sites

Domain Rating, Domain Authority, Page Authority, URL Rating and estimated monthly traffic. Every domain was checked live in September 2026; shut-down and redirected sites were replaced with live equivalents. Metrics are third-party estimates and shift over time.

The pitch that works

  1. Lead with the credential and the evidence. "As a registered dietitian, here is what the latest research on protein and satiety shows" earns the read.
  2. Cite primary sources. Link the studies, not a summary of a summary.
  3. Pitch the section. "For your nutrition coverage" or "for the sustainable-habits series" shows you read the site.
  4. Frame it responsibly. Moderate approach, realistic timelines, no before-and-after shock tactics.
  5. Bring the assets. A protocol, a meal framework, a data set.
  6. Disclose any programme, app or product you have a stake in.

The test: would an editor run this if you had nothing to sell? If yes, pitch it. If it exists only to place a link, it goes in the bin.

What not to do

  • Pitch a "lose weight fast" listicle with no author credential.
  • Make metabolism or supplement claims you cannot back with a study.
  • Use dramatic before-and-after framing or extreme-deficit advice.
  • Put exact-match anchors ("best weight loss pill") on links back to your store.
  • Use AI-generated diet content. In a YMYL niche it is both obvious and risky.

Bottom line: a few placements on medically-reviewed sites with a real dietitian or physician byline will do more for rankings and trust than a long list of thin diet-blog links.

Frequently asked questions

Do sites like Healthline or WebMD accept weight-loss guest posts?

No. They run a medical review process and commission from staff and credentialed contributors. They will take a byline from a registered dietitian, physician or licensed professional. The programme media and coaching blogs are more open.

What do I need to pitch a weight-loss site?

For nutrition, metabolism and supplement pieces, a relevant qualification (RD, MD, RN) or a named expert reviewer. Serious sites also expect a duty-of-care approach: no extreme deficits, no "lose 10 lbs in a week" framing, awareness of disordered eating.

Can I link to my programme, app or coaching?

One disclosed link in the author bio at most, and only on the sites that take contributed articles. Weight loss is YMYL, so promotional links in the body get the piece pulled and unsupported claims get it rejected.

Which matters more, Domain Rating or author expertise?

Author expertise. Google's systems lean heavily on named, credentialed authors for this topic. A placement with a real dietitian byline on a reviewed site beats a higher-DR link with anonymous posts.

The metrics do not match my SEO tool. Why?

Domain Rating and traffic estimates are recalculated constantly and differ between tools. Several diet sites on older lists (Fitness Magazine, DietSpotlight) have shut down or merged.

Want us to run the outreach?

We build the shortlist by tier, pair every claim with a credentialed reviewer, write the pitches responsibly and place them on real health publications. No link farms, no risk.
