Cloudways is a managed layer that sits on top of real cloud providers (DigitalOcean, Vultr, Linode, AWS, Google Cloud). You pick the underlying server, Cloudways handles the operating system, caching, security and updates, and you pay a flat monthly rate that never jumps at renewal.
It is the answer to the budget-host renewal trap: the price on the pricing page is the price forever. The trade-off is that it does not do domains or email, and it starts higher than shared hosting.
Best for: Growing WordPress and WooCommerce sites, and freelancers running client sites.

Plans, the renewal price and the hidden fees
Pricing is pay-as-you-go with no contract. The entry option is a 1 GB DigitalOcean server at around $11 a month; Vultr and Linode options are similar; AWS and Google Cloud start higher.
There is no renewal price because there is no discounted intro price. You pay the same rate every month, and you can scale the server up or down and be billed the difference.
There is a 3-day free trial rather than a long money-back window, and add-ons (Cloudflare Enterprise CDN, extra backups, dedicated support) are billed separately.
Not in the headline price:
- No email hosting: you use a third party (Google Workspace, Rackspace) and pay separately.
- No domain registration.
- Automated backup storage and the premium CDN are paid add-ons on top of the server price.
Speed and uptime, from independent tests
Performance is a function of the cloud you pick and the size, and it is strong: Cloudways ships NGINX plus Varnish plus Redis object cache and its own Breeze caching plugin, and independent 2026 reviews (iWeb, Cloudwaysguide) benchmark it ahead of most shared hosts and level with SiteGround.
With 50-plus datacenter regions across the underlying providers, you can put the server almost anywhere, including Mumbai, Sao Paulo and Sydney.
The support experience
Support is 24/7 live chat and tickets, included, with an optional paid Advanced and Premium support tier for faster response and application-level help.
The included support is competent for platform issues; deep application debugging is what the paid tiers are for. The documentation and the community are strong.
Migrating a site in and out
One free migration per account via the Cloudways WordPress plugin or the migration team. Moving away means taking a server snapshot or a standard export, since it is a normal LEMP stack underneath.
Security, backups and account isolation
Free SSL, a dedicated firewall per server, OS and patch management handled by Cloudways, two-factor authentication, bot protection, and optional automated off-server backups.
Who it suits, and who should look elsewhere

Accept that you will run email and domains elsewhere, and that the entry price is higher than a shared promo. In return, the number never surprises you.
